1. Programs for All Ages

Each month, there is a variety of fun and educational events geared towards different age groups. The Storytime classes have a regular spot on the calendar, focusing on baby & toddlers, preschoolers and bilingual family. There is even a popular Books and Barks session.

Adults can find something too. There are recurring events such as Coffee & Coloring and Spin A Yarn; plus one-time events like Author Talks and Craft Sessions.

2. Books in Many Formats

Library card holders have access to eBooks, audio books, and the good ‘ole printed book. You know, books with that paper smell most book lovers enjoy.

First of all, audio books are great for commuters or multi taskers. Quickly work through you TBR (to be read) pile by listening to an audio book while traveling, exercising, cooking or doing chores.

Then, your eBook options can be downloaded and read on your eReader or any electronic device compatible with the Cloud Library app. With many genres and authors available, there is sure to be something of interest to you.

Finally, you have the option of getting your hands on a printed book. To find a book you are interested in, you can search the online catalog or stop by the library.

While at the library, you can even purchase used books from the Friends of the Palmdale City Library.

3. Online Catalog

There is a wealth of information and time saving options found on the Library's website. Find out what new titles have arrived and the various formats (e.g. print, audio, video) available. You can even add the new arrival notices to your RSS feed.

While browsing the online catalog, if you see an item you want, just put a hold on it. The online catalog will show you the current availability and holds for each item. Shortly thereafter, you will be notified when your item is ready for pick-up. Then head down to the library at your convenience. How easy is that?

4. Open 7 Days a Week

Visitors can enjoy the library Monday through Thursday, from 10am to 8pm. On Fridays and Saturdays, the doors are open from 10am to 5pm. Then come Sunday, you can enjoy the library from 1pm to 5pm. Go ahead and plan a visit to the library!

5. Technology

If you need access to technology, the library has you covered. Any time you visit, you can access the Library’s Wi-Fi for free. Bring your own device or use one of the many computers at the library to access the internet. Also, tablets are available for checkout, if you choose.

In addition, there are black & white copy services available at 10 cents per page…what a deal!

6. Book Clubs

Several book clubs meet regularly at the library. Do you like mysteries? Then, there is a book club for you. Interested in African-American literature? Covered! This book club meets the 3rd Thursday of each month. Maybe you are interested in the classics? Well, that is covered too. The best part about book clubs are the new friends you make.

7. Legal Aid

Free legal assistance every Tuesday (civil only) to low-income patrons. Sponsored by LAFLA (Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles). Appointments required.
